Usable CSS for Change Display Name CSS Item?
« on: April 13, 2007, 05:09:02 pm »
Hiya,

firstly, cool item! and wicked shop!

I do have a question thou, which CSS styles can i use in this item? I have tried adding a glow effect [ FILTER: Glow(Color=#ff0000, Strength=8) ] but nothing happens, same with other filters (which are ie only, i know). text colour and background work fine.

Mainly want to have a glowing effect if possible.

Ideas?

Have a look at http://www.daniel15.com/forum/index.php/topic,98.30.html for and you'll see the code Perplexed and I based off of other items...you might try following the same sort of templating that uses and add your extras to it.

I'll have a fiddle with other additions to them when I get time...care to list a few in order of priority?

Yeah, I never tested any glow effects, as they're IE-only (I use Linux, so I don't really have access to Internet Explorer ;)).

As for what can work with the item, any properties in the CSS specifications should work fine (see http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS1#css1-properties for the official CSS documentation). W3Schools.com has a good reference for these, at http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp :)

Yeah, i got the basic Text Colour/Background Colour/Font/Text Style already built in but really would have liked the glow effect. Since it is a filter from IE, guess i really have to leave it out.

Oh well, Thanks anyway :)

I have a newer version available...it's too big to add here as code and the forum attachment options are disabled so I can't add it as a zip file...it adds a truck load of border options.

There is one minor issue with use of borders...in some parts of the forum the name area is made too big by them so the top border is automatically removed leaving the other three in place...no big deal IMHO.

PM me if you want the item and I'll give you a download link.

I really don't think that adding IE only options is at all sensible...think of your non IE users who have decent browsers instead...I'm certainly not going to do anything that encourages people to use IE so...add them if you want but I ain't a gonna do it!

David, the attachments weren't working because I forgot to CHMOD the attachments directory  so it is writable :-[. It's fixed now, anyways, and you can attach your file :)

I havent forgotten about this, I DL'ed it last week but I havent had time to check it out yet.  I'm a bit concerned about the borders if it changes layout, but I will check it out when I can and see

Well done again

You're OK as regards layout...the layout stays the same but one of the borders (top one) of the name image sometimes gets clipped off...honestly it's unlikely to be any big deal.
