What is a cron job for bank interest?

I see it says you must create a cron if you want bank interest to work.   Can anyone tell me what a cron is and how to create one?  I would like bank interest to work.. but sure don't know what I need to do.

Are you using cPanel? Take a look at http://www.dansoftaustralia.net/smfshop_wiki/Bank_Interest :)
If not, what hosting control panel do you have access to?
