Many question the Chicago Bears’ 2017 draft, but there is every indication they will take a huge step forward. The reason Neville Hewitt Womens Jersey why the Bears improve may very well be an improved assault on opposing quarterbacks. Last year the Bears were tied for 12th in Ryan Tannehill Womens Jersey the NFL with 37 sacks. Considering the egregious amount of injuries incurred, it’s an incredible number. There were 19 players on injured reserve in 2016. Many of those players were key contributors on defense. If health improves even slightly, there will be substantially more sacks in 2017. Extrapolation is not an Jon Ryan Youth Jersey exact science, but it could be an indicator of how well the team will get after opposing QBs in 2017. The three major sack artists on the team last year were Willie Young (7.5), Akiem Hicks (7), and Leonard Floyd (7). Fourth and fifth on the team were guys who missed significant playing time, Pernell McPhee (4) and Eddie Goldman (2.5). Simply extrapolating the sacks per game over the course of the games missed, the Bears get nearly 10 more sacks out of their top five. Even hedging the bet and calling it eight extra sacks puts the Bears into third place in the NFL. Furthermore, just because players were in games doesn’t mean they were completely healthy. The top five sack artists on the Chicago Bears were listed as questionable or worse a staggering 34 times. Young, for instance, lived on the injury report with knee issues for most of the first half of the season. When the players most likely to hit opposing QBs are hindered for nearly half the season, some stats are sure to plummet. Out of the front seven players, only Lamarr Houston was out for essentially the entire 2016 season. He tore his knee after only two games. The previous year, however, Houston accounted for eight sacks for the Bears. In fact, he led the team in sacks, and along with Pernell McPhee, looked downright dominating at times.
General SMFShop Discussion / Ross is exciting, now fill some needs

Here’s today’s multiple choice question, kids, in the wake of Round 1 of the NFL Draft-a-palooza 2017, so big even Deacon Jones Womens Jersey Philadelphia barely booed it: Who’s happiest right now with the Bengals pick of wide receiver/World’s Fastest Football Human John Ross? Is it: Andy Dalton, who Brandon Thompson Womens Jersey has been given yet another high-pick toy with whom to play? Dalton has so many playthings now (still and again), he’s changing his legal name to Santa Claus. A.J. Green, who might not have four enemy arms nagging him at all times next fall? Offensive coordinator Ken Zampese, who will wear a lab coat on Tuesdays, when he puts together game plans? Calvin Broadus, who might be sippin’ on some gin and juice? Who’s not dancing on the ceiling? People wondering if Ross has a slide-step to go with that first step. Can he pass-block, too? Anyone trying to play Will Sutton Kids Jersey corner in Pittsburgh. Most years, Steelers corners can’t cover a dog in fur. This has to seem cruel and unusual to them. People who think the Bengals needed an elite edge rusher. People who don’t want to win every game 48-41. People who wonder if Ross comes with a good warranty. He has blown a knee in college and played more than half of last season with a torn labrum. John Ross was a junior wideout at Washington who ran 40 yards in 4.22 seconds at the Combine. That’s the fastest 40 ever recorded there. “Eyeball popping,’’ Ross called it. “It feels good to run by people and not get caught.’’ Bengals' 1st Round: John Ross, WR, Washington He’s not just the next Bob Hayes. (Look him up, kids.) The Bengals were as impressed with Ross’ ability to stop as to start. That makes him next-to-impossible to defend when he’s running free. He’d be altogether impossible if he weren’t 5-11 and barely 190. Bump-and-run cornerbacks might have a chance.
General SMFShop Discussion / 2017 NFL draft position preview: Defensive backs
« Last post by wang1993 on Yesterday at 06:18:01 pm »
An NFL team in search of immediate secondary help through this week’s NFL draft will find good news in the first round. And the Wholesale NFL Jerseys Supply second round. Third and fourth rounds, also. Suffice to say, it’s a good year for cornerbacks and safeties – particularly those from Ohio State – and a good chance for both the Chargers and Rams to fill some holes. If most draft Cheap Jerseys Online pundits are corrected, the Chargers will have their fingers crossed until it’s their turn to pick at No. 7 on Thursday. It seems Cheap Jerseys Online natural that the Chargers would grab one of two safeties – Ohio State’s Malik Hooker or LSU’s Jamal Adams – if either is available. That’s no sure bet. It wouldn’t be shocking to see both safeties go among the first six picks. Adams is a physical beast and Hooker is a great overall talent who got some good news last week. Doctors said Adams’ previously torn hip labrum was recovering as expected. Hooker and Adams won’t be on the board long, and up to eight other defensive backs are thought, by draft analysts, to have the potential to go in the first round, or perhaps early in the second round. Other top safeties include Jabrill Peppers (Michigan) and Obi Melifonwu (Connecticut). The top of the cornerback class includes two more Ohio State players, Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley, plus Kevin King (Washington), Marlon Humphrey (Alabama), Adoree’ Jackson (USC) and Tre’Davious White (LSU). It’s not unreasonable to think that an NFL team could wait until the fourth round and still get a quality defensive, and that’s part of the dilemma for the Rams, who first pick in the second round at No. 37. The Rams are fairly set at cornerback, with Trumaine Johnson, E.J. Gaines, Kayvon Webster and Nickell Robey-Coleman, although there have been strong reports that the Rams might trade Johnson during this offseason if they can’t sign him to a contract extension. Things are less firm at safety, where T.J. McDonald departed last month. The Rams return Maurice Alexander, who likely will move from free safety to strong safety, and are expected to ask LaMarcus Joyner to move from cornerback to free safety. Beyond that, there’s not much depth.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- LeBron James sat silently in front of his locker with a towel draped over his head, not wanting to reveal the effects of a hit to his nose that prematurely ended his night. His Miami Heat teammates finished off a 103-81 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder without him on Thursday night. Miamis star forward went down with 5:50 remaining after he was struck by Oklahoma Citys Serge Ibaka on a drive to the basket. James finished the dunk, but he was bloodied and he left the court with a towel over his face. "Im like everybody else, youre used to seeing him like Superman, get up and sprint back even after tough hits and tough falls," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "So we knew something was up." James landed the hardest blow long before that. He scored 16 of his 33 points in the first quarter to put the Thunder in a bind, and the Heat rolled to a lopsided win. James passed a concussion test, but some damage was done. "He has a swollen nose right now. Its bleeding," Spoelstra said. "Well evaluate him when we get back to Miami, but its sore." The Thunder were the ones shaken up after James made his first five shots and scored 12 points in the first 4:11. "It was flawless," Wade said. "He was aggressive defensively, he was able to play passing lanes and be who he is. That was a great start on the road by our leader. It was something that we needed." Wade had 24 points and 10 assists, and Chris Bosh added 24 points for Miami, which won its fourth straight and avenged an earlier loss to Oklahoma City. It was a good step for the Heat, who are trying to catch Indiana for the top record in the Eastern Conference. "You can see the resolve," Wade said. "You can see the chemistry. You can see a team thats gearing up for the second half of the season." Kevin Durant scored 28 points for Oklahoma City, which lost at home for the first time since Jan. 5. Durant has been the popular favourite to win the NBA MVP award, but Wade said James is still in the hunt. "Its not decided," Wade said. "I dont think that was a message. That was LeBron James being LeBron James. He loves the matchup, just like KD loves the matchup. The MVP is long, long from over." Russell Westbrook, who had missed the previous 27 games after having surgery on his right knee, started and scored 16 points in 24 minutes. He made 4 of 12 shots. "Im just going to keep getting him better, and as the season goes along, as he gets more comfortable in game shape, were going to see a better Russell every night," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. The Thunder overcame an early 18-point deficit on Jan. 29 to roll past the Heat 112-95 in Miami, and the home fans hoped for a regular-season sweep against the team that beat Oklahoma City in the 2012 finals. Instead, they saw a rare inefficient game from the Thunder. "When you dont have good rhythm, normally the three-ball can get you back into the game," Brooks said. "We didnt have shot makers tonight. Weve had them for a while now. We didnt have them tonight." The crowd erupted as Westbrook was introduced as a starter. His first minute of action was furious and had the fans on their feet. His first basket was a two-handed, fast-break dunk 37 seconds into the game, and he got a steal 17 seconds later. The excitement quickly evaporated. James scored 10 points in the first 3:11 and Miami made 13 of its first 14 shots to take a 28-13 lead. The Heat were ahead 34-17 at the end of the first quarter. They extended their lead to 19 points in the second quarter before the Thunder rallied behind Westbrook. He scored nine points in the final 1:55 of the first half, including a dunk in the closing seconds, to trim Miamis lead to 54-47 at the break. Miami took control early in the third quarter. James scored six points during a 10-0 run that helped the Heat take a 64-49 lead. The advantage grew to 75-53 on a 3-pointer by James with just over five minutes left in the frame. Durant scored seven points in the final 2:46 of the quarter to trim Miamis edge to 76-65 heading into the fourth. Miami reasserted itself in the opening minutes of the final period. Bosh hit a 3-pointer to bump the Heats lead to 19 with just under 10 minutes to go. The Heat won for the fifth time during their six-game road trip. Miami beat the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix, Golden State and Dallas before closing with a win against the team with the leagues best record. "Its good to finish it this way," Spoelstra said. NOTES: Thunder G Reggie Jackson, who started while Westbrook was out, entered the game in the first quarter. ... Durant scored just two points on 1-for-5 shooting in the first quarter. ... Miami shot 76 per cent in the first quarter but made just 7 of 17 shots in the second and was outscored 30-20. ... Price began practice splitting a net with Dustin Tokarski, who was called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League in his absence. Tokarski was moved to the other goal, splitting time with Peter Budaj mid-way through Fridays practice. Coach Michel Therrien would not tip his hand as to whether he might play this weekend. “He had a really good day today but from our standpoint, nothing has changed, hes still day-to-day and well see where hes at tomorrow,” Coach Michel Therrien said after practice. “Were really pleased about the way he wwas capable to practice today.dddddddddddd” His teammates were similarly impressed with their netminders compete level on Friday. The 26-year-old netminder is yet to appear in a game for the Canadiens since returning from the Sochi Olympics. He exited his first practice with the Canadiens after aggravating an injury in his right leg. He has missed the Canadiens last eight games, with the team going 3-4-1 over that stretch. His last appearance for the Canadiens was a 4-1 win in the teams pre-Olympic finale against the Carolina Hurricanes on Feb. 8. KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A 25-year-old freelance journalist from British Columbia was formally charged on Thursday with a felony, five days after she was arrested in the United States over allegations she threatened to kill her hockey player boyfriend. Tieja MacLaughlin, who has worked for several media outlets in Kelowna, was charged with one count of felony harassment, according to court documents. She remained in custody, with bail set at $50,000, and she was scheduled to appear in court in Kennewick, Wash., on Friday. She is alleged to have threatened Jackson Playfair, a 19-year-old junior hockey player on the Tri-City Americans, who she had been dating since last summer, according to the documents. The charge includes a "domestic violence" allegation because they were in a relationship at the time. None of the allegations have been tested in court, and police documents and court records indicate MacLaughlin denied threatening to kill Playfair when questioned by officers. MacLaughlins case -- with its mix of hockey, accusations of infidelity, and a young journalist with a social media presence rife with photos for the taking -- has generated headlines across Canada, the United States and abroad. A prosecutor filed an affidavit with the Benton and Franklin Counties Superior Court on Thursday, offering new details about the allegations against MacLaughlin, some of which contradict earlier reports from Kennewick Police Department. According to the affidavit, prepared by prosecuting attorney Brendan Siefken, MacLaughlin and Playfair had been in an "on again, off again" relationship since the summer of last year. The affidavit says MacLaughlin was in Kelowna late last week, planning to visit Playfair in Kennewick that weekend, when Playfair disclosed during a phone call that he had "cheated" on MacLaughlin with someone he met in Spokane, Wash. "The defendant became upset and began to make verbal threats towards him," says the affidavit, which contains unproven allegations. "She advised him that by tomorrow night, he would be dead. Mr. Playfair advised that she threatened to kill him several times during the phone conversation." Playfair told MacLaughlin not to visit Kennewick as planned, the document says. But the affidavit alleges MacLaughlin persisted. "The defendant advised that she was coming down that day and that he did not have a choice, and that he needed to have things figured out or things were going to get very bad," the affidavit alleges. The following morning, Playfair received additional messages from MacLaughlin indicating she was at the border and on her way to Kennewick, the documents allege. Police had earlier said MacLaughlin travelled from Paris, Ont., but the prosecutors affidavit says she travelled from Kelowna, where she was living and working. A posting to a Twitter account that appears to be maintained by MacLaughlin appears to suggest she crossed the border last Friday afternoon. Playfair left for a game in Seattle -- the Tri-City Americans website indicates there was a game there on Friday night -- and after the match he found messages from MacLaughlin indicating she was in the Kennewick area, the affidavit alleges. "Based on the defendants prior threats and her presence in the Tri-Cities, the victim became worried that she might carry out her threats to kill," the affidavit says. He called police, who in turn visited MacLaughlin at a local Super 8 motel, the document claims. The affidavit alleges officers told MacLaughlin to stop contacting Playfair, but she subsequently sent him 20 to 25 text messages. Police arrested MacLaughlin on Saturday, according to police documents filed with the court. The Benton and Franklin Counties Office of Public Defense has previously confirmed MacLaughlin had been assigned a public defender. The office couldnt be reached for comment on Thursday. MacLaughlin has worked as a freelance reporter for Castanet, an online news website based in Kelowna, and the Kelowna Daily Courier newspaper. Articles bearing her name have appeared in both publications, as recently as this month. Playfair is originally from Fort St. James, B.C., according to biographical information on the teams website. He is the son of Phoenix Coyotes associate coach Jim Playfair, and his brother, Austyn Playfair, was signed to the Americans last year. A spokesperson for the Tri-City Americans has previously declined comment on behalf of both the team and Playfair. Ryan Anderson Youth Jersey . But this time, the Gunners weathered the storm.
