Item Modify Custom Profile Field

Hi there! I've been using SMF Shop to my heart's content, yet a functionality has escaped me thus far.
If I have a custom profile field, for example stars, and I want my members to be able to purchase an item that will increase the total number of that custom profile field by a given value, I'm not sure how to approach that.

I've modified the Add to Post Count item several times to no success.
The custom fields are in {db_prefix}custom_fields.

I have both the latest version of SMF and SMF Shop.
